ABOUT ASF

ASF (Aider Sans Frontières) is a non-profit association (charity) that was founded and officially registered in Senegal in 2011 (N° 01059 GRSL/AA). It was created by Senegalese people working for an international volunteer organisation. They got positively inspired by the great work that dedicated international volunteers were doing in their country, for local communities. They decided to use their experience to make ASF be the first really fair and honest volunteer organisation. An organisation where all resources and energies are used for helping improve people’s life in a sustainable way, while giving a true life experience to local staff and to international volunteers

OUR PROJECTS

ASF (Aider Sans Frontières) is organising national and international help and solidarity through these projects:

Care & Education

ASF’s Care Centre is for young people in difficult living conditions in general, and particularly for ‘Talibés’ (street children). The centre where our volunteers and interns can work, is a haven of peace where the talibé children and teenagers can go during the day, to receive genuine attention, care, education, and healthcare.

Microfinance

Our Microfinance project is aiming to give an unparalleled opportunity to disadvantaged people who have no chance to get a loan from classic financial institutions. The approach is unique in the sense that not only the financial aspect of the loan is considered but also the social and human dimensions of giving an individual the economic independence that they need to recover their dignity and social development. Our loans are obviously interest-free and our volunteers and interns get involved in all the loan-preparing and giving process. Our targets are the people that are the most in need, namely the women and the ‘talibés’ becoming young adults.

Renovation & Building

ASF’s Renovation & Building project aims to help disadvantaged people get a better environment for education, social development, or get a decent shelter where they can have significantly improved living conditions.  Our volunteers and interns help us paint, refurbish, renovate or build schools, social centres, public places or houses for the disadvantaged people or communities.

Teaching at Kindergarten

This project helps give additional support to children at kindergartens. Volunteers and interns, who know how to take care of and/or teach children aged between two and five years old, are welcome. Motivation and passion, more than professional experience, will make the difference.

Language Course

This project is for linguistic immersion. French is the official language in Senegal while Wolof is the main national language widely spoken in Senegal and in The Gambia. Whether you want to learn French or Wolof or improve your linguistic skills, this is the right project. Our partners are experienced language teachers who are capable of tailoring your course to your specific needs or fields of interest; with the implementation of the ‘teaching a language for a specific purpose’ approach.

VOLUNTEERS’ STORIES

FROM VOLUNTEERS TO PARTNERS

«

My time as a volunteer in Senegal in 2017 remains a very precious and important experience to me: It allowed me to be involved in the care and education project, to build lasting friendships and to get to to know the vibrant senegalese culture. The problematic of street children (Talibés) has been on my heart ever since. I am honored being now able to addressing the problematic with our team as the swiss-partner of ASF. As a social worker it is very important to me to help establish ASF-structures where cultural diversity is valorized, actual needs are addressed and the Talibé-problematic is approached in a sustainable way.»

Frédéric Dormeuil volunteered in Senegal at our Talibés Care centre, in 2012. Frédéric has now generously accepted to be ASF’s partner in France and Monaco, to help the non-profit association’s humanitarian actions grow efficiently and sustainably.

Who is Frédéric ?

Frédéric is the Founder & CEO of Universal Luxury Consulting, a newly established Monaco based company that advises global corporations at the very top of the luxury sector. Bringing in-depth knowledge of the worldwide luxury market, Frédéric has held several international roles, including postings to New Delhi, Savannah, London, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and more recently Singapore, where he oversaw Southeast Asia & Australia for two brands within the Swiss-based luxury goods Group Richemont. Following his education in the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Frédéric embarked on an early engineering career with privately held machinery equipment manufacturer JCB and won a scholarship to attend Isambard Kingdom’s Brunel University where he included ‘Management’ as part of his studies. After several years with his family textile business, Frédéric fine-tuned his learning and became an MBA graduate from HULT Shanghai which included rotations to São Paolo and San Francisco. Upon his return to Europe in 2018, Frédéric was heavily involved in launching Aston Martin’s pioneering “Heritage Racing” orbit and within the sector of yachting, is perhaps best known for jointly spearheading LYBRA’s ‘’The Superyacht Show’’ as its Brand Partnerships Director. Frédéric brings over sixteen years of international experience in brand and business development having worked with 45 different markets.

«While in Senegal, I worked in the construction program painting and cleaning up two different schools with my supervisor and one other volunteer. I loved seeing the kids’ reactions when they saw how much we had changed their school. I did not speak french and they did not speak english, but having them all hug me in a giant group of thankfulness made me so happy. I had a wonderful and fulfilling time working with my project supervisor and the team of directors that made sure us volunteers had a wonderful time. I stayed with a host family and got to know all of them quite well. They included me in every meal (they even made sure all my meals were vegetarian to accommodate my particular dietary restriction) and they made me feel like part of their family for the four weeks I was there. In my time off from work, I was able to explore St Louis, go on an overnight trip to sand dunes and ride with camels, go to bars and clubs, and I got to spend a ton of time with my fellow volunteers. I made friendships that will last me a lifetime. It was such an enriching experience that allowed me to grow as a person and I am thankful every day that I decided to go volunteer in Senegal»
